A$AP Rocky Rejects Plea Deal, Faces Trial for Alleged Gun Assault on A$AP Relli in November 2021
Jan 21, 2025, 09:00 PM
A$AP Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, has rejected a plea deal as his trial commenced in Los Angeles on charges of firing a gun at a former friend and collaborator, A$AP Relli, whose real name is Terell Ephron. The incident occurred in Hollywood in November 2021. The plea deal offered by prosecutors included 180 days in jail, three years of probation, and a seven-year suspended sentence if Mayers pleaded guilty to one of the two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Mayers declined the offer, stating, 'I respectfully decline, thank you.' His defense strategy involves claiming that the firearm seen in security footage was a 'starter pistol' used as a prop for security purposes. If convicted, Mayers faces a maximum sentence of 24 years in prison. Jury selection began on Tuesday, with opening statements expected to follow soon after.
