Israel Intercepts Second Hypersonic Missile from Yemen, 11 Injured as Sirens Sound in Tel Aviv
Jan 13, 2025, 04:58 PM
The Israeli military reported intercepting a missile launched from Yemen targeting central Israel early Tuesday morning, triggering air raid sirens across Tel Aviv, the Gush Dan area, and throughout central Israel. The incident marks the second time in a few hours that Yemen has launched a missile at Israel, with the first incident occurring earlier on Monday, also intercepted by Israeli defenses using the Arrow-3 system. The missile, identified as a hypersonic missile named Palestine 2, was accompanied by four drones targeting the Jaffa area, according to Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree. Following the recent Red Alert sirens, MDA teams were dispatched to search an area of a reported rocket strike, though no known casualties were initially reported. However, 11 injuries were later reported among settlers fleeing to shelters. No other injuries or damage were reported from the latest missile launch, and the incident concluded with the missile likely being intercepted. The Israeli military is investigating both incidents, and all flights at Ben Gurion Airport were temporarily suspended following the missile launches from Yemen.
