Russia Accuses Ukraine of Drone Attack on TurkStream's Russkaya Compressor Station
Jan 13, 2025, 01:02 PM
Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed that on January 11, Ukrainian forces attempted to attack the Russkaya compressor station of the TurkStream gas pipeline in the village of Gai-Kodzor in Krasnodar Krai using nine drones. The attack aimed to disrupt gas supplies to Europe via the pipeline that carries Russian gas through Turkey. All drones were shot down by Russian air defense units, and although minor damage was reported, there were no casualties among the station's personnel. Gas flows have now resumed, according to officials. The Kremlin described the incident as an act of "energy terrorism" by Ukraine, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov alleging it was conducted under the supervision of Ukraine's "overseas friends."
