Air Canada Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Halifax Airport on Saturday Night, 77 Passengers Safe with Minor Injuries
Dec 29, 2024, 05:57 AM
An Air Canada flight, operated by PAL Airlines as Flight 2259, experienced a dramatic emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport due to a malfunction in its landing gear. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. AT on Saturday night, as the plane was arriving from St. John's. The landing gear failure caused the aircraft to skid along the runway, resulting in the wing scraping the pavement and igniting a fire. Despite the severity of the situation, all 77 passengers and crew were safely evacuated and transported to a hangar for medical evaluation. Only minor injuries were reported. The airport was temporarily closed following the incident but has since reopened one of its runways.
