Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has reportedly communicated to Iran its commitment to protect the Shiite minority and religious sites in Syria. This pledge was made in a message to Iranian officials, according to a report by the New York Times. The report also notes that Iran requested HTS to ensure the safe passage of Iranian troops out of Syria and to safeguard Shia shrines.
