Kings Dismiss 2023 Coach of the Year Mike Brown; Doug Christie Named Interim Coach
Dec 27, 2024, 09:52 PM
The Sacramento Kings have fired head coach Mike Brown after a disappointing start to the season, releasing him just minutes after he led practice and spoke to the media. Brown was relieved of his duties amid a 13-18 record, placing the team 12th in the Western Conference. The Kings are currently on a five-game losing streak and have lost 12 of their last 17 games, including an NBA-high 13 clutch time losses this season. Despite leading the Kings to their first playoff appearance since 2006 and winning the NBA Coach of the Year award unanimously in the 2022-23 season, the team decided to part ways with him. Brown had signed a multi-year contract extension through 2027 just six months ago. Assistant coach Doug Christie is expected to be named the interim head coach.
