Secret Service Denied Entry at Hamline Elementary While Investigating TikTok Ban Threat Against Trump
Jan 24, 2025, 10:29 PM
On Friday morning, agents presenting Department of Homeland Security identification attempted to enter Hamline Elementary School in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on Chicago's South Side but were denied entry. Initially reported by Chicago Public Schools officials as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, ICE denied involvement. It was later clarified that the agents were from the U.S. Secret Service investigating a threat against former President Donald Trump related to the TikTok ban, allegedly made by an 11-year-old student. The agents left a business card with school officials, but staff did not allow them to enter. Chicago Public Schools acknowledged the misunderstanding, stating it was reflective of fear and concerns in the community.
