An explosion at a munitions factory owned by ZSR in Balıkesir's Karesi district in western Turkey killed at least 12 people and injured four others, according to local authorities. The blast occurred on December 24 in the capsule production section of the factory, causing part of the building to collapse. Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu confirmed the death toll and stated that there is no suspicion of sabotage. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided the updated casualty figures. An investigation into the incident has been launched, with Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç assigning a deputy chief prosecutor and four prosecutors to the case, and Labor Minister Vedat Işıkhan appointing two chief inspectors and one inspector.
