Trump's Deportation Operation Targets 11 Million Undocumented, Begins with 500 Arrests and Flights to Guatemala
Jan 26, 2025, 02:57 PM
President Donald Trump's administration has initiated what is being described as the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, with 'border czar' Tom Homan announcing that military aircraft will be used daily to deport undocumented migrants. Homan, in an interview with ABC News, emphasized that the operation, which began shortly after Trump's inauguration, is set to deport millions of undocumented immigrants. The use of military planes for deportations marks a significant shift from previous policies under the Biden administration, with the first flights already transporting over 150 migrants to Guatemala. Homan stated that the operation will start by focusing on public safety and national security threats but will expand to include all undocumented immigrants in the country. He stressed that anyone in the country illegally is 'on the table' for deportation, urging those without legal status to leave voluntarily. Over 500 undocumented migrants were arrested on the first day of the operation, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers now free to arrest any of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country.
