Israeli ground forces have reportedly crossed into Syrian territory, passing beyond the demilitarized zone on the Israel-Syria border for the first time since the Yom Kippur War in 1973, according to unnamed Israeli officials cited by The New York Times. Over the weekend, Israeli troops advanced into areas including Mount Hermon and other strategic positions in southern Syria.
