Israel Strikes Syrian Chemical Weapons, Missile, and Air-Defense Sites, Says Foreign Minister Sa’ar
Dec 9, 2024, 09:01 AM
Israel has confirmed that it conducted air strikes on suspected chemical weapons sites, missile storage facilities, and air-defense systems in Syria over the weekend, according to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar. The strikes targeted strategic weapons arrays, including residual chemical weapons capabilities, missiles, and long-range rockets, to prevent them from falling into the hands of hostile actors and extremist elements. Targets included locations near Damascus's Mezzeh military airport. Sa’ar stated on Monday that the operation was carried out to ensure the security of Israel and its citizens, emphasizing that "the only interest we have is the security of Israel and its citizens."
