Imran Khan and Wife Sentenced in £190 Million Al-Qadir Trust Corruption Case
Jan 17, 2025, 09:05 AM
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been sentenced to 14 years in prison and fined PKR 1 million after being convicted in a £190 million land corruption case involving the Al-Qadir Trust. His wife, Bushra Bibi, was also convicted, receiving a seven-year sentence, fined PKR 0.5 million, and was arrested in the courtroom following the verdict. The verdict was delivered by an accountability court at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Friday, 17 January 2025. The case revolves around allegations that Khan, 72, and his wife accepted bribes and misused authority related to the Al-Qadir University Trust, which they established together. The Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, described the case as the biggest mega corruption case in Pakistan's history. Khan has denied the charges, calling them politically motivated, and stated he will not seek any relief or make a deal.
