Mathias Pogba, the older brother of French footballer Paul Pogba, has been sentenced to three years in prison, with two years suspended, for his role in an extortion and kidnapping case targeting the World Cup winner. The Paris Criminal Court handed down the sentence, which includes one year to be served under house arrest with electronic monitoring. Mathias Pogba was also fined €20,000. Five other men involved in the case received prison sentences ranging from four to eight years. The extortion attempt occurred in March 2022, when Paul Pogba was held at gunpoint and demanded €13 million. Paul Pogba reported paying €100,000 to the group, which included his brother. The case gained significant media attention in France, impacting Paul Pogba's career, which has been on hold since a doping ban in 2023.
