Jan 17, 2025, 10:14 AM
British actress Dame Joan Plowright, an award-winning stage and screen star and the widow of Laurence Olivier, has died at the age of 95, her family announced. Tributes are flooding in for Plowright, who was perhaps the greatest Anglophone actor of the 20th century. She had a long and distinguished career, winning a Tony Award for "A Taste of Honey" and being honored with a damehood. Plowright was renowned for her performances at the Royal Court, National Theatre, and the West End. The Society of London Theatre announced that theaters across London's West End will dim their lights for two minutes at 7 p.m. on January 21 in her memory.
