MLB Bans Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen Indefinitely for Interfering With Mookie Betts in Game 4 of World Series
Jan 10, 2025, 11:00 PM
Major League Baseball has indefinitely banned two New York Yankees fans, Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen, from all MLB stadiums and events after they interfered with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium on October 29, 2024. The incident occurred when Betts attempted to catch a pop fly by Gleyber Torres in the first inning. One fan grabbed Betts' glove, pulling out the ball, while another grabbed his wrist. The fans were ejected from the game and also banned from attending Game 5. MLB cited the fans' actions as posing a serious risk to player safety and crossing the line of acceptable fan behavior. The league warned that any future presence at MLB properties or events would result in removal and potential arrest for trespass.
