At World Economic Forum, Trump Signs Order Ending Government Censorship: 'We Have Saved Free Speech'
Jan 23, 2025, 04:22 PM
President Donald Trump announced an executive order to halt government censorship, declaring that the United States is 'a free nation once again'. Speaking to the World Economic Forum, he stated that 'on Day One', he signed the order to stop all government censorship. Trump proclaimed that 'no longer will our government label the speech of our own citizens as misinformation or disinformation', which he described as 'the favorite words of censors and those who wish to stop the free exchange of ideas and, frankly, progress'. He asserted that 'we have saved free speech in America'. The executive order reverses policies under the previous administration where officials pressured social media companies to remove disfavored content.
