Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan traveled to Bolu to attend the funeral prayers for victims of a devastating fire at the 12-storey Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort. The fire, which occurred the previous day, resulted in the deaths of 76 people and injured 51 others, including members of the Gültekin family, who lost eight members. President Erdoğan visited the Gültekin family's home to offer condolences before attending the funeral at the Bolu Kalıcı Konutlar Merkez Mosque. During the ceremony, Erdoğan expressed his grief, stating, 'Our hearts are burning, our souls are burning. We pray for patience for the entire family and our nation. May their place be in heaven.' Following the incident, a one-day national mourning was declared, and nine individuals, including the hotel's operator, were detained.
