Syrian Rebels Loot Evacuated Iranian Embassy in Damascus After Assad's Fall

Following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad's government, Syrian rebels have stormed and looted the Iranian Embassy in central Damascus, according to multiple media reports citing Press TV and Iranian state television. The attackers reportedly smashed windows and rifled through documents during the assault. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that embassy staff had evacuated prior to the attack and are safe. Iran had begun withdrawing its personnel from Syria, with embassy staff evacuated to Lebanon, Iraq, and Tehran.
