Starlink Gains Arcep Approval to Use STEAM-1B Frequencies in France
Dec 29, 2024, 12:37 PM
Starlink, a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, has received approval from France to use radio frequencies for providing internet access from space. This approval, granted by the French Electronic Communications, Postal, and Press Distribution Authority (Arcep), allows Starlink to utilize its 'STEAM-1B' system to expand satellite service across the country. The decision follows a public consultation period from June 19 to July 19, 2024, during which Arcep received feedback on Starlink's request to use frequencies for communications between its non-geostationary satellite systems, fixed earth stations, and earth stations in motion.
