Assistant District Attorney Ian Kersting of the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office in New Orleans was found dead on Saturday night, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was discovered around 9 p.m. inside the DA’s office building at 619 South White Street, where EMS pronounced him deceased at the scene. Kersting had been working with the office's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) unit, collaborating closely with New Orleans Police Department's sex crimes detectives to investigate and prosecute sexual offenses.
