Ukraine Fires Six ATACMS Missiles into Russia's Rostov Region, Kremlin Vows Retaliation
Dec 12, 2024, 04:49 PM
Ukraine has launched several US-made ATACMS missiles into Russian territory, targeting a military airfield in the Rostov region, specifically in the city of Taganrog. The Kremlin has vowed to retaliate, with Russian President Vladimir Putin stating that Ukraine's actions make peace impossible. The attack involved six ATACMS missiles, with two being shot down and four diverted by radio combat systems, causing damage to at least two buildings and military and civilian vehicles, and resulting in casualties among military personnel. This marks the fourth time Ukraine has used these long-range missiles against Russian targets since the US approved their transfer on November 17. In response to the ongoing conflict, the EU has agreed on a 15th package of sanctions against Russia. Additionally, Ukrainian intelligence has identified 238 tankers as part of Russia's shadow fleet, used to circumvent Western sanctions and transport oil, contributing to Russia's military funding.
