Stanley Recalls 2.6 Million Switchback and Trigger Action Mugs Due to Burn Hazard

Stanley has issued a recall of approximately 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs with polypropylene lids due to a potential burn hazard. The recall comes after the company received dozens of consumer complaints, including reports of 38 people being burned, some requiring medical attention. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the threads on the screw-on caps can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lids to detach and hot liquid to spill. The affected mugs were sold at various retailers nationwide, including Amazon, Walmart, and Target, from June 2016 through December 2024. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled mugs immediately and contact Stanley for a replacement.
