Stanley recalls 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action mugs after 38 burn injuries
Dec 12, 2024, 06:29 PM
Stanley has issued a recall of approximately 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs due to a burn hazard. The recall involves all 12, 16, and 20 oz versions of the mugs sold worldwide from June 2016 through December 2024 at retailers including Amazon, Walmart, and Target. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the threads on the polypropylene screw-on caps can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lids to detach and posing a significant burn risk. The company has received 91 reports worldwide of lids detaching during use, resulting in 38 burn injuries, 11 of which required medical attention. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled mugs and contact Stanley for a replacement or refund.
