Six Charged After London Raids Over PKK Terrorism Offenses; Suspects Due in Court
Dec 10, 2024, 08:41 AM
Six individuals have been charged by British police with terrorism offenses linked to the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) following raids in London. The Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command arrested the suspects, aged between 23 and 62, on November 27 as part of a counter-terrorism investigation. One other person arrested at the same time has since been released without charge. The individuals—Turkan Ozcan, 59; Mazlum Sayak, 27; Berfin Kerban, 31; Ali Boyraz, 62; Ercan Akbal, 56; and Agit Karatas, 23—are accused of being members of the proscribed organization, which has been outlawed in the UK since 2001 for advocating Kurdish self-rule through political and armed struggle. They are due to appear in court today.
