Trump Pardons Tarrio and Rhodes, Releasing Them from Prison for Jan. 6 Convictions
Jan 21, 2025, 04:27 PM
Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes have been released from prison after President Trump granted them clemency for their convictions related to the January 6 Capitol riot. Tarrio, who was serving a 22-year sentence despite not being in Washington D.C. at the time of the riot, and Rhodes, who was serving an 18-year sentence, were convicted of seditious conspiracy and other crimes in 2023 for their roles in organizing and participating in the attack on the Capitol. The sweeping pardon by President Trump benefited more than 1,500 defendants associated with the events of January 6, 2021, leading to their release on Tuesday.
