President-elect Donald Trump has announced plans to issue 'major pardons' for individuals convicted in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Speaking at a press conference on the four-year anniversary of the event, Trump indicated that his administration would review the cases, stating, 'We'll be looking at the whole thing, but yes, I'll be making major pardons, yes.' He highlighted perceived injustices, noting that 'people that didn't even walk into the building are in jail right now.' Over 1,500 individuals have been charged in relation to the riot, with more than 1,000 pleading guilty to various offenses.
