Backup Gunner Stockton Leads Georgia to 10-6 Lead Over Texas After Carson Beck's Arm Injury
Dec 7, 2024, 11:16 PM
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck suffered an injury to his throwing arm on the final play of the first half during the SEC Championship game against Texas in Atlanta. Beck did not return for the second half and was seen on the sideline with his elbow wrapped in ice. Redshirt sophomore Gunner Stockton, who had only thrown 16 passes all season, replaced Beck at quarterback. Stockton led the Bulldogs on an impressive 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, converting two third downs and completing three of four passes for 36 yards. He also ran for 12 yards on the drive. Trevor Etienne capped the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run, giving Georgia its first lead of the game at 10-6 with 10:27 remaining in the third quarter.
