President Donald Trump has terminated Dr. Anthony Fauci's security detail, which was previously provided and funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The decision was implemented on Thursday night, and as a result, Fauci has hired his own private security, which he will personally fund. The security detail, which had been costing taxpayers $15 million annually since 2022, was initially provided by U.S. Marshals and later by a private contractor paid by the government.
