Trump Imposes 25% Tariffs, Travel Ban on Colombia After Deportation Flights Rejected

President Donald Trump announced urgent and decisive retaliatory measures against Colombia after President Gustavo Petro refused to accept two deportation flights carrying Colombian migrants. Petro stated he would not allow the flights until the U.S. established a protocol for the dignified treatment of deportees. In response, Trump imposed an immediate 25% tariff on all Colombian goods entering the United States, which will increase to 50% in one week. Additionally, he announced a travel ban and visa revocations for Colombian government officials, enhanced border inspections on Colombian citizens, and banking and financial sanctions against Colombia. Trump stated that these actions are 'just the beginning' in response to Colombia's refusal to comply with its legal obligations concerning the repatriation of its citizens.
