Small Plane Carrying 10 Crashes in Gramado Center, 9 Dead

A small twin-engine airplane carrying 10 people crashed this morning around 9:30 AM in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The aircraft had departed from Canela at approximately 9:10 AM and was heading to Jundiaí, São Paulo state. The plane crashed into buildings on Avenida das Hortênsias in the city center, striking a furniture store, houses, a hotel, and a guesthouse, causing an explosion and fire. According to initial reports from authorities, including Capitão Bastos of the Brigada Militar and the Defesa Civil Nacional, there are at least 9 confirmed deaths. Emergency services are on the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. Governor Eduardo Leite is traveling to Gramado to assess the situation.
