An explosion occurred at an Eni fuel depot and gas storage facility in Calenzano, near Florence, around 10 am on Monday, December 9, 2024. The blast resulted in at least one death and several injuries, with some reports indicating up to two fatalities, eight injured, and four people missing. A large column of smoke was visible from neighboring communities, and the nearby A1 highway exit at Calenzano has been closed.
