Eiffel Tower Evacuated After Short Circuit, 1200 Visitors Safe

The Eiffel Tower in Paris was temporarily evacuated on Tuesday morning due to a short circuit in the elevator's power rail, which triggered a fire alarm. The incident occurred around 10:50 am between the second floor and the top of the monument. According to the Société d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE), the evacuation was carried out in accordance with current safety procedures, and no visitors were in danger. Approximately 1200 visitors were evacuated from the 330-meter-tall structure, which attracts approximately 7 million visitors annually. Firefighters and technical maintenance teams are investigating the cause of the short circuit. The Eiffel Tower was set to reopen progressively to the second floor later in the day.
