The accident occurred near East Atlantic Avenue and Southeast 1st Avenue when the fire truck was responding to an emergency call. Witnesses reported that the fire truck waited for a freight train to pass, then went around the barrier and was hit by the Brightline train, causing the fire truck to overturn.
