IDF Chief Herzi Halevi Resigns Effective March 6, Assuming Responsibility for October 7 Failures

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi has announced his resignation, effective March 6, 2025, after notifying Defense Minister Israel Katz. In his resignation letter, Halevi acknowledged the Israeli Defense Forces' failure to protect Israeli citizens during the events of October 7, 2023, assuming responsibility for the shortcomings. He is the most senior Israeli official to resign following the incident.
