Trump Pardons 23 Pro-Life Activists Before March for Life, Calls Prosecutions "Ridiculous"
Jan 23, 2025, 09:28 PM
President Donald Trump has pardoned 23 pro-life activists who were prosecuted by the Biden administration's Department of Justice under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. The activists, including elderly individuals in their 70s and 80s, were convicted for actions such as blockading entrances to abortion clinics and praying outside facilities. Some had been imprisoned for over a year, with sentences ranging up to 57 months. In a ceremony at the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump called the prosecutions "ridiculous" and stated, "This is a great honor to sign this." The pardons come ahead of the annual March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., fulfilling a campaign promise to address what Trump views as political prosecutions targeting pro-life individuals. Among those pardoned are participants involved in an October 2020 demonstration at a Washington clinic.
