Preliminary results from national exit polls conducted during the 2024 U.S. presidential election reveal that a significant majority of voters believe democracy in the United States is under threat. According to Edison Research and NBC News, 73% of voters expressed concerns about the state of democracy, while 25% felt it was secure. Additionally, the exit polls indicated that 71% of voters are worried about potential violence related to the election results. This is the first time in the history of exit polls, dating back to the 1970s, that voters have been asked about the prospect of violence. In Nevada, an NBC exit poll showed similar concerns, with 72% of voters stating that democracy is threatened and 26% believing it is not.
