Trump Wins 2024 Election with 312 Electoral Votes in Largest GOP Victory Since Reagan; Republicans Control White House, Senate, House
Nov 12, 2024, 12:27 AM
Donald Trump has secured a significant victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, winning 312 electoral votes. This marks the biggest Republican win in 36 years since Ronald Reagan's 1984 landslide, and Trump achieved the highest Republican vote share in that time. In addition to the presidency, the Republican Party has gained control of the Senate and the House of Representatives, now controlling all three. The party is now positioned to enact major reforms, with some noting that Trump will be able to accomplish much in his first two years. Notably, Trump performed strongly in traditionally Democratic states, including California, where he received more votes than any Republican candidate in the past 20 years, even while running against a Californian opponent, and surpassing the vote share of George W. Bush in 2004.
