A recent archaeological study has uncovered evidence that ancient Egyptians engaged in rituals involving the consumption of psychedelic substances, bodily fluids, and alcohol. The research, published in Scientific Reports, focuses on a 2,000-year-old Bes-vase from the 2nd century BCE, which contained traces of several psychotropic plants, including Peganum harmala, Nymphaea nouchali var. caerulea, and a species from the Cleome genus.
