34-Year-Old Australian Influencer Charged With Poisoning Baby for A$60,000 in Donations and Followers
Jan 16, 2025, 01:36 PM
A 34-year-old Australian social media influencer from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland has been charged with poisoning a one-year-old girl to gain online followers and monetary donations. The woman allegedly administered several unauthorized prescription and pharmacy medications to the child between August 6 and October 15, 2024, causing the infant to suffer immense distress and pain. She then filmed and posted videos of the child's suffering online to attract donations and followers. The influencer is accused of defrauding donors of approximately A$60,000 via GoFundMe. The child was admitted to a hospital in October 2024, where medical staff reported their suspicions, leading to the woman's arrest on January 16, 2025, by Queensland Police. She faces charges including five counts of administering poison with intent to harm, three counts of preparation to commit crimes with dangerous things, and one count each of torture, making child exploitation material, and fraud. The woman is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 17, 2025.
