South Korea's SK Hynix has announced plans to invest $75 billion by 2028 to expand its semiconductor production, with a significant focus on AI memory chips. The investment is part of a broader strategy by its parent company, SK Group, to strengthen its position in the competitive chipmaking industry. Approximately 80%, or $60 billion, of the investment will be allocated to manufacturing high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, which are optimized for use with Nvidia's AI accelerators.
