Allu Arjun Arrested Over Stampede Death at "Pushpa 2" Premiere; Granted Bail by Telangana High Court
Dec 13, 2024, 12:06 PM
Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested from his residence on December 13, 2024, by Hyderabad police in connection with a stampede that occurred on December 4 during the premiere of his film "Pushpa 2: The Rule" at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The incident resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman named Revathi and left her son critically injured. Allu Arjun was presented before the Nampally Court, which initially sent him to 14-day judicial custody in Chanchalguda Central Jail. His lawyer argued that the actor had no knowledge or intention to commit such offences. Hours after his arrest, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail for four weeks, citing that his arrest was a travesty of his liberty. Allu Arjun offered condolences and financial aid to the victim's family. The victim's husband stated he was willing to withdraw the case, absolving Allu Arjun of responsibility for the incident. His co-star Rashmika Mandanna expressed disappointment over his arrest, stating, "Can't believe what I am seeing."
