IDF Uncovers and Neutralizes Hezbollah Tunnels Crossing 10 Meters from Lebanon into Israel
Oct 8, 2024, 04:06 PM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have uncovered and neutralized multiple Hezbollah tunnels crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory. One significant tunnel, stretching approximately 10 meters into Israel near the settlement of Zerait, was discovered and blocked off by IDF forces. The tunnel, which did not have an exit point in Israeli territory, was found to contain weapons, explosive devices, and anti-tank missiles. This marks the first discovery of such a tunnel since 2018. Additionally, IDF fighter jets targeted a 3.5 km tunnel running between Lebanon and Syria, allegedly used by Hezbollah to smuggle Iranian weapons. The tunnel was a key route for arms transfer, according to the IDF. The IDF's Commando Brigade and elite Yahalom Unit also demolished several Hezbollah tunnel shafts and underground caches of weapons in southern Lebanon. The tunnels crossed the UN-recognized Blue Line and were sealed by the Northern Command Combat Engineering Unit. The 3.5 km tunnel was operated by Hezbollah’s Unit 4400.
