U.S. Justice Dept. to Pay $100M in Nassar Abuse Settlement
Apr 17, 2024, 09:27 PM
The U.S. Justice Department has agreed to pay approximately $100 million to settle claims from around 100 victims of former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar. This settlement addresses the FBI's failure to adequately investigate the sexual abuse allegations against Nassar, who has been convicted of abusing numerous teen gymnasts over decades. The deal, once finalized, will resolve the remaining legal claims against various institutions that mishandled their responses to Nassar's actions, bringing the total legal payouts related to his abuse to nearly $1 billion.
