Trump Secures Narrow Election Victory with 49.997% Vote Share
Nov 22, 2024, 04:08 PM
Donald J. Trump has won the popular vote in the latest election by one of the smallest margins since the 19th century, securing 49.997% of the vote with a 1.6-point margin of victory. Despite claims from Trump and his allies of a 'landslide' victory, the election results indicate a closely contested race. Trump's vote totals increased significantly in predominantly Black and Latino neighborhoods in New York City, where he garnered a higher percentage of votes than any Republican candidate since 1988. This shift contributed to his narrow victory, while Kamala Harris's vote totals most decreased in these same neighborhoods. A recent Pew survey indicates a shift in voter preference towards the GOP and away from Democrats.
