19-Year-Old Border Police Officer Killed, Ten Injured in Beersheba Shooting and Stabbing

A terror attack occurred at multiple locations in Beersheba, southern Israel, on Sunday, October 6, 2024. A 29-year-old Israeli citizen, identified as Ahmad Said Suliman al-Uqbi, opened fire and stabbed pedestrians at the central bus station and nearby areas, including a McDonald's restaurant. The attack resulted in the death of Sgt. Shira Chaya Suslik, a 19-year-old Border Police officer from Beersheba. At least ten others were injured, including some in critical condition. The Magen David Adom ambulance service reported that two victims were stabbed and one was critically wounded. The assailant was shot dead at the scene by security forces. Authorities are treating the incident as a terror attack.
