US Conducts Airstrikes on Houthi Targets in Yemen Following Missile Attack on Israel
Dec 21, 2024, 09:35 PM
On December 21, 2024, the US military conducted precision airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, targeting a missile storage facility and a command-and-control center operated by the Iran-backed Houthis, according to a statement by US Central Command. The strikes, carried out by F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets, aimed to disrupt and degrade the Houthis' ability to conduct operations, including attacks against US Navy warships. The operation came hours after the Houthis claimed responsibility for firing a missile at Tel Aviv, Israel, which injured 16 people. During the operation, US forces intercepted and shot down multiple Houthi drones and an anti-ship cruise missile over the Red Sea.
