Iran Condemns New Sanctions by US, EU, and UK Over Ballistic Missiles
Oct 15, 2024, 05:41 AM
Iran has strongly condemned new sanctions imposed by the United States, European Union, and the United Kingdom. The sanctions target Iran's energy sector and various entities, including 14 entities such as airlines and defense firms, over allegations of supplying ballistic missiles and drones to Russia. Iran's Foreign Ministry has labeled the US sanctions as 'illegal and unjustifiable' and accused Washington of 'paying a ransom' to Israel. Additionally, Iran has denied supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, with Foreign Minister and other officials reiterating that Iran does not provide such weaponry to Moscow. Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, also condemned the sanctions. Domestic media in Iran have blamed Moscow for exacerbating Tehran's challenges while offering no support in return. The European Union's sanctions have been welcomed by Ukraine and Israel.
