Trump's Team Crafts New Peace Plan for Ukraine: WSJ Reports NATO Membership Delay for 20 Years
Nov 7, 2024, 07:09 AM
Donald Trump, who has spoken of his good relations with President Vladimir Putin, has repeatedly stated that he could bring a swift end to the nearly three-year conflict in Ukraine. Trump's team is reportedly crafting a new peace plan for Ukraine, according to WSJ, which includes delaying Ukraine's NATO membership for 20 years, establishing a 1,200 km demilitarized zone along the current front line, and leaving 20% of occupied Ukrainian territory under Russian control. The plan has drawn criticism for aligning closely with Kremlin interests and potentially allowing Russia to re-arm and re-invade a non-aligned Ukraine. Only Europe is allowed to provide security guarantees under this plan.
