IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Security Chief Tharwat al-Bayk in Gaza Airstrike on Command Center
Dec 23, 2024, 05:16 PM
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet conducted a joint operation resulting in the elimination of Tharwat Muhammad Ahmad al-Bayk, the head of Hamas's Security Directorate, in an airstrike on Sunday. Al-Bayk was targeted while operating from a command center located in a former school in the Daraj Tuffah area of Gaza City. The IDF emphasized that numerous steps were taken to minimize civilian harm during the operation, including aerial observation and the use of precision weaponry. In a separate incident, the IDF also carried out a precision drone strike in Khan Younis, targeting a Hamas operative within a designated humanitarian zone. The military stated that extensive measures were implemented to reduce the risk to civilians.
