On October 7, exactly one year after he was kidnapped, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum announced that 28-year-old hostage Idan Shtivi, who was abducted from the Nova Music Festival near Re'im, was murdered by Hamas. His body remains held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Shtivi was taken while on his way to the festival as he tried to help two strangers escape. IDF representatives informed his family, and his death was declared by a panel of health experts.
